It seems as if the next Call of Duty title will finally be going back to its roots. We can’t confirm if these images are real, however YouTuber TheFamilyVideoGamers posted a video, where he talked about a handful of images he received from an anonymous source. These images point to this year’s Call of Duty game being set in World War II.
Back in early February, Activision told investors that the next entry in the series “will take Call of Duty back to its roots,” noting that Infinite Warfare “underperformed,” and that its futuristic setting “just didn’t resonate.”
Call of Duty’s leading competing title, Battlefield, recently went back in time with Battlefield 1, a shooter set during the First World War which received very positive reviews. This shows that Call of Duty’s recent futuristic settings with its 3 latest games has not been as popular as publisher Activision may have hoped.
This years title will be developed by Sledgehammer Games, the same company that gave us 2014’s Advanced Warfare.
