Nintendo has officially announced it’s producing a new Super Mario film using the characters from the iconic gaming series.
15 years after the first live action Mario film, it looks like Nintendo is finally ready to make amends for the terrible movie adaptation that was released. Today it was announced that Nintendo will be working with Illumination Entertainment (the studio behind Despicable Me) to make “a movie starring Mario”, with Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri and Nintendo developer Shigeru Miyamoto on board.

No release date has been announced for the the Italian plumber’s next project.
Speculation, based on Nintendo’s current schedule, is that the earliest the film will hit cinemas is in 2020. It’s another video game movie to look forward to, however its commonly known that game movies don’t really work. It’ll be very interesting to see how Mario is portrayed on the big screen.
