Nintendo has officially announced it’s producing a new Super Mario film using the characters from the iconic gaming series. 15 years after the first live action Mario film, it looks like Nintendo is finally ready to make amends for the terrible movie adaptation that was released. Today it was announced that Nintendo will be working with Illumination Entertainment (the studio behind Despicable Me) to make “a movie starring Mario”, with Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri and Nintendo developer Shigeru Miyamoto on board. If you’re still enjoying the latest Mario adventure (which i expect most of you are) you’ll be thrilled to hear that Nintendo has just announced the first post-release content update for Super Mario Odyssey. In a Nintendo Direct Mini earlier this week, Nintendo said that a free update will add an online multiplayer/Co-Op mode called Balloon World that’ll be accessible to players who have finished the game’s main story. In one variation of the mode, players are given 30 seconds to hide a balloon and in the other they are given 30 seconds to find balloons hidden by other players. via GIPHY The update will also add new filters for the game’s photo mode and some cool new outfits. Nintendo has some big plans for the Switch in 2018
Despite having limited supply, the Nintendo Switch has sold very well since its release back in March. Just imagine how it would do if it was easy to find—which it is expected to be in 2018, according to the Wall Street Journal. Nintendo is reportedly aiming to make up to 30 million units of the Switch in its next fiscal year, which begins April 2018. That’s a massive number for a gaming console. To put that into context, the PlayStation 4 has sold around 60 million units since going on sale in 2013. If you haven’t hopped onto the Switch’s hype train (like myself) now might be a good time to buy a ticket.
