Super Mario Odyssey Review

I am honestly lost for words. The spirit of Super Mario 64 lives on in this game. While you’re playing, it will feel like you have stepped into a portal to your childhood. Let’s be honest, no other franchise has made as big of an impact on the gaming industry as Mario. He is truly one of the all time greats.

First of all, you have all of the fun kingdoms, you have the new capture ability, you have the mini games, the online leader boards for the free run challenges. Levels are designed so seamlessly and there is so much diversity and platforming combined with exploration as the main theme it’s perfect in every way.

Cappy serves as a perfect companion, with his capture abilities providing a refreshing take on the classic 3D Mario Mechanics. Odyssey is an incredibly gorgeous game. It maintains 60 fps consistently in both handheld mode and docked mode. Unlike titles such as Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy, Odyssey takes influence from popular games like Super Mario 64 and Super Mario World in that there are multiple different kinds of worlds, or Kingdoms as they’re known in Odyssey.

With the new add-on content coming in an update this February, that will add Mario’s brother Luigi and two new leaderboard-based online modes to the game, this proves Nintendo are not done in building on the masterpiece they have created.

Nintendo have absolutely blown me away with Super Mario Odyssey, this game alone makes the Nintendo Switch console worth every single penny. This title is without a doubt the best Mario game since Mario 64, maybe even better. Hands down the best game i have played for as long as i can remember.

Thank you Nintendo!
